Sunrise reporter, Edwina Bartholomew, calls Channel 9’s, Seb Costello, to apologise

Sunrise star, Edwina Bartholomew, has reportedly tried attempted to speak with Seb Costello to say sorry for her derogatory comment on Twitter about the Channel 9 reporter.

For those not aware of the controversy, the drama began on Thursday, during which time Nine News in Melbourne uploaded a story on Twitter that featured Costello. The story followed a reported security scare where a man had threatened to set himself alight out the front of the Victorian State Parliament building. Seb Costello, the son of former Federal Treasurer, Peter Costello, was assigned to the story.

On Saturday morning, Bartholomew responded to the story, commenting “Surprisingly articulate for a [censored].” The word used cannot be revealed because of the circumstances. While her remark was removed less than an hour after it was posted, the damage was already done.

Nine can report that Costello was left hurt by the tweet and has been told to consider legal action, in conjunction with Nine’s legal team. Bartholomew is currently on assignment in London and called Costello to personally apologise to him. Costello has supposedly not responded to her call or apology.

Bartholomew is currently expecting her first child, saying that she was “half asleep and on the other side of world” when the tweet was made.
