Pop star, Rihanna, has showed off her latest Savage x Fenty fashion line in New York’s Fashion Week schedule. The show was invitation-only. The 31-year-old pop star also performed at the event, which was dubbed an event for empowerment and inclusivity.
The event also saw Gigi and Bella Hadid make appearances, followed by a live performance from Halsey. Laverne Cox, Cara Delevingne and Joan Smalls also appeared as models for the singer’s new fashion line. However, because of the singer’s deal with Amazon, photographers were not allowed inside the venue, which took place at the Barclays Centre (which is more renowned for NBA matches, as opposed to fashion runway events).
The show has been described as a concert-style event, immersing attendees in both music and fashion. While the show has drawn comparisons with Victoria’s Secret, Rihanna has been praised for changing the fashion game.
The event was very similar to the live-streamed Tommy Hilfiger show, which featured Zendaya. Rihanna’s runway event will be made available on the streaming service, Amazon Prime on September 20.
With her new show a raging success, the sky is well and truly the limit for Rihanna’s label. Her new brand has carved a massive slice out of the market, largely off the back of its visual appeal and wide range of size selection.
