The Rock is getting a new sit-com based on his younger self

American television network NBC dropped some big news. It made a straight-to-series order of Dwayne ‘The Rock” Johnson and Nahnatchka Khan’s “Young Rock”. The show is a single-camera comedy that follows a younger version of The Rock back in his early years prior to being a huge movie actor and wrestling star.

Now, we’ve got some inside details on what fans should expect from the show. Johnson outlined some of the “wild” mishaps and “unpredictable” experiences he had to be featured in the comedy series. Speaking at the Winter TCA press tour The Rock says, “We’re going to find young Rock wreaking havoc in the streets of Hawaii, when I was a teenager, getting arrested seemingly every single week, doing things I shouldn’t have been doing, but still a good kid.”

“Then we got evicted off the island, and moved to, of all places Nashville, Tennessee, where I continued to get in trouble,” he added.

Johnson was born in California but spent his teenage years in his native Honolulu, Hawaii before moving to America’s capital of country music. He recalled being arrested numerous times for fighting, thieving and committing check fraud before even reaching the age of 17.

“Just imagine me at 15 in downtown Nashville, listening to honky-tonk, buying my first car from a crackhead for $70 – I did talk him down so I was a pretty good negotiator.”

The series will also look at his past as a collegiate athlete at the University of Miami and how he was “be out” by Warren Sapp, former football star and defensive tackle.
