Mendes gleefully shared a special detail about their romance during a fan Q&A. One of the crooner’s fans asked: “I know there’s been rumors about you and Camila for a while, but how long have you two actually been together?”

To everyone’s surprise, the 21-year-old was happy to reveal the answer to that question. “We haven’t been dating for that long,” he answered as per Entertainment Tonight.

Mendes continued, “We’ve been dating since July 4 officially.”

Based on the singer’s answer, the timing definitely makes sense. News that Cabello and her ex-beau Matthew Hussey broke up emerged in June. Not long after, she and Mendes were first seen engaging in PDA over the 4th of July weekend much to the excitement of fans.

An insider close to the pair confirmed to ET that the “Senorita” collaborators were, indeed, seeing each other casually. However, at the time neither one was “looking to get into anything serious…”

After that, the then-rumored couple continued to make PDA-packed sightings. All this while still keeping mum about a potential relationship between them. As time went on, casual dating progressed into a full-on relationship. It looks like both of them are in too deep, especially now that they’ve confirmed their romance.
