Selena Gomez talks therapists, medication and mental health journey

Days before her next studio album “Rare” is set to drop, Selena Gomez gets real about her own journey on mental health.

Gomez is featured on the annual Talents & Legends edition of WSJ Magazine. In the cover story, the singer and actress revealed what got her through years of struggling with her mental health issues. She admitted in the article that she “had low self-esteem” and that she “continuously” works on it.

The “Lose You To Love Me” songstress also shared how she feels “so empowered” despite her struggles.

“…I’ve gained so much knowledge about what was going on mentally,” she tells WSJ Magazine adding, “My highs were really high, and my lows would take me out for weeks at a time.”

The star opened up about how she has sought the help of therapists at treatment facilities for a span of six years. She shared the benefits of this saying:

“I realized that there was a way to get help and to find people that you trust. I got on the right medication, and my life has been completely changed,” the “Undocumented Living” and “13 Reasons Why” star revealed.

While stars in Hollywood are wary about admitting their desire to be casted, Gomez has no problem saying that she wants to return to television or film. She revealed that “looks too young” for most roles.

“I continue to audition, and I just have to wait for whenever my time is,” she adds noting that it “bums” her out that she hasn’t bagged a role for a while now.
