Another year, another September 11 anniversary, another series of scandals about how inappropriately some made their tributes. This time, reality TV star Kristin Cavallari was in the spotlight, getting backlash on an Instagram post of her posing in a dress on the streets of New York City.
The post was captioned “NYC for 24hrs. And what a time to be here..always remember” but this was later edited to “NYC for 24hrs” following the backlash. Apparently, Kristin was not responsible for the post, but her social media manager who was reportedly been let go.
Nonetheless, the photo received hundreds of responses from people saying it was insensitive and did not match the sentiment of the caption. Some alleged that she was milking the tragedy to publicise her own clothing brand and sponsors.
It appears to be, in reality, little more than a moment of thoughtlessness from someone who’s job it was to know better, so they were naturally fired, and the story ends there. It is doubtful that this incident will haunt Cavallari for very long as this incident is, in the eyes of many, an example of neglectful ignorance rather than being malicious.
