Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner weren’t in on the Emmys 2019 joke

Reality TV stars Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner were the butt of the joke at the 2019 Emmys after an embarrassing encounter they had on stage.

The sisters’ monologue was greeted with a hearty laugh by the audience of the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday when they presented a trophy. Now, Us Weekly reports that the two weren’t “briefed” about the joke prior to getting on stage–something that seems pretty obvious don’t you think?

A source told the celebrity news outlet that Kendall and her older sister Kim “were not briefed” that their teleprompter monologue were “a joke”. But famous siblings were apparently pretty chill about with another source telling the outlet “Kim and Kendall were good sports about it. The line was supposed to be funny. They weren’t bothered by people laughing.”

The two reality stars were presenting an Emmy recognizing this year’s winner of Outstanding Reality-Competition Program. While Kim was able to deliver her line with a straight face, the audience didn’t take it seriously. Audible laughter erupted from the audience when the Skims founder said:

“Our family knows firsthand how truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves.” Kylie then continued the monologue saying “Telling their stories, unfiltered and unscripted” garnering further laughter.

Nowhere to be seen with her sisters was Kylie Jenner who was also invited to present the award with them. Multiple outlets report the Kylie Cosmetics beauty mogul was unavailable as “she has been sick for days” and had to miss out on other recent events.
