John Cho injured on the set of “Cowboy Bebop” adaptation

Production for Netflix’s “Cowboy Bebop” adaptation is on a temporary halt after John Cho’s knee was injured while taping.

The show’s star was working on the live-action series in New Zealand back in October when an on-set incident left him with an injured knee. According to Variety, production is held back for at least 7-9 months as Cho recovers from the incident.

Not many details have been revealed about the incident that injured Cho. However, the entertainment outlet reported that it was during a rehearsed sequence. Cho was reportedly performing a minor stunt when it happened. Now, the actor has returned to Los Angeles to undergo surgery according to the outlet’s sources.

Despite the accident, Cho seems to be in good spirits. On Friday he posted an update on Instagram with a photo of an intricately designed cowboy belt buckle. It came with a caption that read: “‘Water can flow or it can crash. – Bruce Lee’ Thanks for all the well wishes, everyone. Gonna be back and flowing in no time!”

Choe’s project is a 10-episode live-action Netflix adaptation on the original 26-episode anime of the same name. The original animated series was created by Sunrise studio. In the series, Cho plays the role of Spike Spiegel, the ringleader heading a group of outer space bounty hunters. His character is described as an “impossibly cool bounty hunter with a deadly smile, a wry wit, and style to spare.”

Joining him in the series are actors Mustafa Shakir, Daniella Pineda, and Alex Hassel.
