Hailee Steinfeld keeps her lips sealed on Hawkeye casting

Since Hailee Steinfeld was nominated for an Oscar after her feature film debut, her career has been on a steady rise. With her first starring role on television and a new album coming up, the star just keeps shining brighter.

The multi-hyphenate is expected to find success for her new show “Dickinson” on the upcoming Apple TV. On top of that, reports emerged a couple of months ago that Marvel is eyeing her to play a key role in Marvel’s Hawkeye on Disney Plus. Entertainment news publisher Variety previously reported that Steinfeld was offered the role of Kate Bishop.

Neither Disney nor representatives for Steinfeld have responded to the casting rumors. And until now, the actress is keeping her lips sealed after she was asked about it.

Steinfeld attended the premiere of her Apple TV show in New York City. The star stepped out on the red carpet in a glamorous embellished see-through nude gown. While on hand, she was asked:

“‘Dickinson’ is your first foray into television, but you actually have another TV series that you’re working on with ‘Hawkeye’…”

“That, I don’t know about!” Steinfeld immediately responded. “I don’t know. I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Either she’s playing coy, or there might be little truth to previous casting reports. We’ll just have to find out soon.

Variety reports that the offer still stands with Steinfeld and that Disney hasn’t approached anyone else for the role. According to the outlet, a major issue with the casting is a non-compete clause the contract she inked with Apple TV.
