Golden Globes: Brad Pitt pokes fun at Leonardo DiCaprio

After working on Once Upon A Time in Hollywood with Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt has found a new best friend. Pitt took a playful dig at his co-star, as best friends do when he accepted his Golden Globes recognition last Sunday. The actor took home a trophy for his performance as a supporting actor in the Quentin Tarantino film.

The A-lister delivered his acceptance speech on stage and gave a touching nod to DiCaprio. Pitt described him as “the man, the myth, the legend” and “his partner in crime.” He then delivered a wisecrack aimed at DiCaprio’s iconic character in Titanic, Jack Dawson. Pitt said he “would’ve shared the raft,” in reference to the climactic ending of Dawson’s life in the James Cameron flick.

Pitt didn’t miss the opportunity to mention DiCaprio’s history at major awards shows. Much to the frustration of fans and cinephiles, the Oscar-winner is known for getting skipped out whenever he was nominated.

“I used to watch, year after year, his co-stars accept awards and get up and thank him profusely,” Pitt said. “I know why. He’s an all-star. He’s a gent. And I wouldn’t be here without you, man. I thank you.”

Unfortunately, DiCaprio’s barren run continued that night after he lost to Rocketman star Taron Egerton in the Best Actor – Musical or Comedy category.

Pitt was certainly on a roll that night. He later quipped about his love life saying he couldn’t take his mother to the ceremony given that he’s linked to anyone he sits next to.
