Find out why Adam Driver walked out of a radio interview

Man of the moment, Adam Driver recently walked out on a radio show interview — National Public Radio’s “Fresh Air” hosted by Terry Gross. Driver currently stars in the two most prominent films this month, “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” and “Marriage Story.

According to multiple news sources, Driver was recording his part of the interview at NPR’s office in New York when the incident took place. Meanwhile, Gross was at the Fresh Air mains studio located in Philadelphia. The actor left in the middle of the interview after the talk show played a clip from Noah Baumbach’s “Marriage Story.” It was taken from a memorable scene in the film here Driver sang “Being Alive.”

Fresh Air executive producer Danny Miller told Variety, “We don’t really understand why he left.” His statement continued:

“We were looking forward to the interview—Terry thinks he’s a terrific actor, he was a great guest when he was on [“Fresh Air”] in 2015—so we were disappointed that we didn’t have a new interview to share with our listeners about Marriage Story.”

Miller then explained that they knew from a previous interview that the actor isn’t a fan of listening to playbacks of clips from his own films. Something that Miller says is not unusual for many actors. According to the producer, Gross had informed Driver to remove his headphones as they played the clip lasting 20 seconds. But before their sound engineer in New York could cue him to put on the headphones, the actor had left the studio.
