Alex Trebek has “rehearsed” for his final ‘Jeopardy!’ episode

Alex Trebek may not now when his last day on “Jeopardy!” will be, but he says he’s ready for it.

The Canadian-American tv presenter has reflected over his retirement from the classic game show. Trebek sat down for an interview with Michael Strahan on ABC News last Thursday. In the special, the host discussed how his battle with pancreatic cancer is affecting his work on the hit quiz show.

“It’ll be a significant moment for me,” said of his last day as the Jeopardy! host. “But I’ve kind of, in my mind, rehearsed it already.”

So what will Trebek do to wrap up his over three decades of hosting the show?

“What I would do on that day is tell the director, ‘Time the show down to leave me 30 seconds at the end. That’s all I want,'” he revealed. “And I will say my goodbyes and I will tell people, ‘Don’t ask me who’s going to replace me because I have no say whatsoever. But I’m sure that if you give them the same love and attention and respect that you have shown me… then they will be a success and the show will continue being a success. And until we meet again, God bless you and goodbye.'”

2019 was a difficult year for the 79-year-old television personality. In March last year, he revealed that he was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.

“I knew as soon as the doctor came back and mentioned the pancreas. I said, ‘Uh-oh, it’s going to be cancer,'” Trebek said recalling the moment.
